In most Batman things i’ve seen, they forego the whole introduction of the joker, so he has his motivation of wanting to mess with batman. A motivation that at least makes sense as batman himself is a massive influence in his own universe (making joker something of the anti-batman).
By contrast, a lot of the things Joker does in this movie have nothing to do with anything in universe. And burning a pile of your own money feels more like something Homer Simpson would do over the Joker.
To each his own, though. Personally, i like ragging on movies cause it’s not something people typically get that offended by since in the end of the day what each person likes in story telling doesn’t matter. I’m still on the “losing” side of this ’cause more people like than dislike the movie and it means we’ll see more of the same in the DC universe to come.
Depends how much people like it. But i was hoping to make it something of a recurring scene: Sixteen and Marisu (and or possibly others) tied up while Sixteen rants and raves the way only she can: irrationally.
This was a great segment, and those are all interesting points on the Joker that I never realized, guess it kind of builds on my own opinion of the Dark Knight.
Anyway, great little struggling from Marisu in here, and I LOVE how you drew their faces in these panels. For some reason they just came out really good.
Yeah, i hear you. I wanted to have fewer panels, but it seemed too “wall of text-y”, so i added a few more… but with the same angles. Which ended up making it look bland. At least the last panel is a bit different, as you said.
Hmm… the Joker is sometimes implied to have a form of “super-sanity”, which effectively lets him see his own world from beyond the fourth wall, and know that he’s a fictional character. This, naturally, plays a big part in making him “crazy”; if true, the implication is that everything he does, in every media where he appears, is done with the specific in-universe intent of entertaining the out-of-universe audience, or making him a threatening villain to contrast Batman’s heroism. This could explain why his motivation was basically “be evil for the sake of evil”, in that he’s just having fun with his role as the villain.
Thought this was a clever dig until I remembered you genuinely dislike this film. Each to their own.
I’m not going to try to convert you but when has the Joker, in any media done anything that wasn’t for the sake of being a villain as you put it?

An interesting variation on two gamers on a couch talking about video games, or even movies 🙂
That was the intent 😉
GAG THAT GIRL! The dark knight is the best movie ever and all who criticise it shall be GAGGED! GAGGED I SAY!
In all seriousness though, got’a love sixteen, she calls it like she see’s it – even at the risk of getting gagged.
Is this going to become a regular segment?

Thanks, bud.
I’ve been trying to add more expressions to the faces.
I appreciate the last panel with the alternate angle. Keeps things from getting stale!
Thanks!

I like to hear what she thinks of The Dark Knight Rises
She’s not a fan.
